Emotional Communication
As humans we communicate our emotions, thoughts, ideas, and feelings in
four primary deliveries:
- SPEAKING: What is said---processed auditorily
- TONE/VOCAL: How it is said---processed auditorily
- BODY LANGUAGE: Visible gestures---processed visually
- FACIAL EXPRESSIONS: Head and face gestures---processed visually
Verbal communication, that which is processed auditorily and most often consciously = 35% of the meaning of the message
Body Language, that which is processed visually and most frequently subconsciously=65% of the true message being delivered to the listener
It has been estimated that the first 90 seconds of interaction with others is critical. From the moment we acknowledge the person, greeting them, we are subconsciously reading their body language. This evaluation will determine the success or failure of everything that occurs next. From the handshake to a head-to-toe observation we are sending and receiving messages from those with whom we are interacting. This one-three day program is designed to enlighten the conscious mind about the messages the subconscious mind is processing. Through this awareness more successful evaluation of the true meaning of communication is realized.
